Create a directory on the root drive of C: named rmcd
Copy the following files from a boot disk to the directory.
aspi2dos.sys
aspi4dos.sys
aspi8dos.sys
aspi8u2.sys
aspicd.sys
btdosm.sys
btcdrom.sys
flashpt.sys
himem.sys
oakcdrom.sys
Copy mscdex.exe from c:\Windows\Command.
Copy emm386.exe from c:\Windows.
Add the following line into your autoexec.bat:
lh c:\rmcd\mscdex.exe /d:mscd001
Add the following lines into config.sys:
device=c:\rmcd\himem.sys
device=c:\rmcd\emm386.exe NOEMS
dos=high,umb
files=40
buffers=10
devicehigh=c:\rmcd\oakcdrom.sys /D:mscd001
devicehigh=c:\rmcd\btdosm.sys
devicehigh=c:\rmcd\flashpt.sys
devicehigh=c:\rmcd\btcdrom.sys /D:mscd001
devicehigh=c:\rmcd\aspi2dos.sys
devicehigh=c:\rmcd\aspi8dos.sys
devicehigh=c:\rmcd\aspi4dos.sys
devicehigh=c:\rmcd\aspi8u2.sys
devicehigh=c:\rmcd\aspicd.sys /D:mscd001
devicehigh=c:\rmcd\flashpt.sys
lastdrive=z
The computer must be restarted after modifying the config.sys and autoexec.bat files.
Restart the computer and hold down the [Ctrl] key.
You will get the boot menu option.
Select Safe-Mode.
The computer will load Windows in safe mode and you will be able to use the cd rom.
