Himem.sys Missing Error

First determine if the error is due to software or hardware.

Using a bootdisk, start the computer. If you do not receive the error then the file himem.sys file is missing or corrupted.

Using the bootdisk at the A:\>type
copy himem.sys C:\Windows [Enter]
* note the space between copy and himem. Also between sys and C:

If you still receive the error using the bootdisk it is most likely due to faulty or bad RAM.

Ensure the RAM is seated properly.

If you have more than one stick of RAM try inserting them one at a time to determine which one is faulty.
